We are proud to partner with Hippy Feet and love that they support such an important cause. Plus, we can't get enough of their colorful socks!
Hippy Feet is a Minneapolis-based Benefit Corporation dedicated to supporting the homeless. Each product sold allows them to provide transitional employment to young people ages 16-24 who are experiencing homelessness. Through a program called Pop-Up Employment, Hippy Feet creates jobs for homeless youth via their packaging, screen printing, and embroidery operations. They bring these jobs directly to the young people they aim to serve. By strategically partnering with local non-profits, Hippy Feet is able to ensure that their employment efforts are happening in a safe, convenient, and familiar environment that overlooks the traditional barriers that limit homeless youth from finding consistent forms of employment.
Hippy Feet’s goal isn’t to be a forever employer for young people affected by homelessness, rather their aim is to provide income, opportunity, job training, and giving in a way that is both earned and respects human dignity. The long-term goal for Hippy Feet is to play a pivotal role in positioning young people into stable housing and transition them into full-time employment elsewhere.
Hippy Feet is committed to making all of their socks and apparel products in the United States and with environmentally friendly materials and practices.
As of July 2020, they have been able to provide jobs to more than 120 young people affected by homelessness. This adds up to over 1,900 hours of employment— providing young people in Minneapolis, Duluth, and Chicago the chance to earn a transitional wage and basic job training. In some cases, this has led to full time employment and permanent housing for their program participants.
When you purchase Hippy Feet socks from the DVTD® Marketplace you are helping to support employment efforts for homeless teens as well as giving back to select charities through DVTD®.
